ATI PrImary

ATI Primary is a highly practical course-based qualification which provides teacher training and development for teachers of English to primary level students (5-11 years).

Aims:

• to give all Course Participants (CPs) a deeper grounding in EFL/ESL methodology and teaching principles

• to give CPs more awareness of students and their learning

• to introduce CPs to more learner-centred teaching techniques

• to help CPs with purposeful teaching and lesson planning

• to help CPs in using instructional technology

• to help CPs reflect on and improve their own teaching techniques

• to enable CPs to practise new techniques in their own classes

• to improve CPs teaching skills and ultimately improve their students' performance

The course will provide invaluable support and guidance for instructors, and also help to imbue a teaching philosophy common to all instructors involved. Participants will improve their teaching skills, confidence, and awareness of teaching methodology. This will in turn lead to an improvement in student learning.

There are 7 course Modules focusing on the topics below:

Module 1: Classroom Management

Module 2: Teaching Language Skills

Module 3: Teaching Language Systems

Module 4: Resources for Language Learning

Module 5: Planning Language Learning

Module 6: Assessing Language Learning

Module 7: Language Awareness for Teaching

Course Format and Assessment:

21 input sessions (online or face-to-face)

2 Teaching Practice observations per Course Participant

4 small assignments covering main areas

Award:

ATI certificate to be given to successful CPs
